VC Zenit-Kazan crowned Russian champions after defeating VC Kuzbass Kemerovo
VC Zenit-Kazan has been crowned the Russian Volleyball Championship after defeating VC Kuzbass Kemerovo in the final series. Zenit-Kazan won the series 3-1, with scores of 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24.
This is Zenit-Kazan's fourth Russian championship title in a row.
The match was played in front of a packed crowd at the Kazan Volleyball Center. Zenit-Kazan was led by Wilfredo Leon, who scored 25 points. Kuzbass Kemerovo was led by Alexander Butko, who scored 18 points.
Zenit-Kazan will now represent Russia at the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship.

VC Zenit-Kazan and VC Kuzbass Kemerovo: A history of success
VC Zenit-Kazan and VC Kuzbass Kemerovo are two of the most successful volleyball clubs in Russia. Zenit-Kazan has won the Russian championship 12 times, while Kuzbass Kemerovo has won the championship twice.
The two clubs have met in the Russian championship final seven times, with Zenit-Kazan winning six of those meetings.
Both clubs have also had success in European competition. Zenit-Kazan has won the CEV Champions League six times, while Kuzbass Kemerovo has won the CEV Cup twice.
The two clubs are expected to be among the favorites to win the Russian championship again this season.
