Dallas Stars Loan Mavrik Bourque to Texas

Stars Make Roster Move Ahead of Trade Deadline

Bourque, 22, has appeared in 25 games with the Stars this season, registering two goals and four assists. He will report to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

The Dallas Stars have loaned forward Mavrik Bourque to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Texas Stars, ahead of the NHL trade deadline. Bourque, 22, has appeared in 25 games with the Stars this season, registering two goals and four assists.

Bourque was selected by the Stars in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Stars in the 2021-22 season and has appeared in a total of 34 games at the NHL level.

The Stars are currently in a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but they are just one point ahead of the Calgary Flames for the second wild-card spot. The trade deadline is on March 3, and the Stars are expected to be active in the trade market in an effort to improve their team for the playoffs.

By loaning Bourque to the Texas Stars, the Stars are opening up a roster spot for a potential trade acquisition. Bourque is a young player with potential, but he is not a regular in the Stars' lineup. Sending him to the AHL will give him an opportunity to play more minutes and continue to develop.

The Stars' next game is on Tuesday, February 28, against the Arizona Coyotes. It is unclear if Bourque will be recalled from the AHL for that game.
