Ohtani Salary

Shohei Ohtani Signs 10-Year, $700 Million Contract with Los Angeles Dodgers

Record-Breaking Deal Includes $700 Million Guaranteed

Ohtani to Receive $2 Million Per Year Over First 10 Seasons

Shohei Ohtani has signed a historic 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, setting a new record for the largest contract in Major League Baseball history. The deal includes $700 million guaranteed, with Ohtani set to earn an average of $70 million per year.

However, the contract is structured in a unique way, with Ohtani receiving just $2 million per year in salary for the first 10 seasons, from 2024 to 2033. This is due to significant deferrals, which will see Ohtani earn a staggering $68 million per year from 2034 to 2043.

The Dodgers have acquired one of the most versatile and dominant players in the league with Ohtani. A two-way star, Ohtani is an exceptional pitcher and hitter, winning the American League MVP award in 2021. His addition to the Dodgers' lineup is expected to make them a strong contender for the World Series.
