London, England - Chelsea Women advanced to the fifth round of the Women's FA Cup with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Liverpool Women on Sunday at Kingsmeadow. The Blues, who had won their previous three cup matches, took the lead in the first half through goals from Guro Reiten and Sam Kerr, but Liverpool responded with a second-half brace from Leanne Kiernan.
Goalscorer Kerr's form continues a run of four goals in her past two matches. Kerr has now scored 20 goals in 26 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions this season. Reiten's strike marked her fourth goal in the FA Cup this season.
The win extends Chelsea's unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches, while Liverpool's defeat ended their four-game winning streak. The Reds remain in fifth place in the FA Women's Super League, while Chelsea sit second.
The two teams will meet again in the FA Women's Super League on April 28 at Prenton Park. Chelsea will be looking to extend their unbeaten run against Liverpool, having won their last three matches against the Reds.
